| - Description: | These Regulations amend the Migration Regulations 1994 by making some minor changes and technical corrections to the General Skilled Migration amendments which commenced on 1 September 2007. They also provide an immigration solution to situations where children of non-citizen and non-permanent resident parents have been abandoned in Australia or are otherwise in vulnerable situations. Lastly, the amendments define the term #8220;week#8221; for the purposes of student visa work conditions; increase the student visa application charge by $20; and permit all initial student visa holders to work once they have commenced a course of study. |
